TOPEKA — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Osage County Sheriff’s Office have determined the identity of a woman whose remains were found near Melvern Lake almost a year ago.
The woman is 40-year-old Anna Marie Baldwin of the Topeka area. Authorities believe she was a homicide victim and was likely killed at some point between April and July 2017. Her remains were found last August in a wooded area north of Melvern Lake during a routine check by Army Corps of Engineers park rangers.
Baldwin was 5-foot-6, 120 pounds, with brown hair, hazel eyes and gold-framed glasses at the time of her death.
Anybody who knew Baldwin in late 2016 to the time of her death last year or who has information about her death is urged to call 1-800-KS-CRIME. Callers can remain anonymous.
