The City of Emporia Engineering Department has announced the start of a new water line project while another is wrapping up.
Beginning Monday, the East Wilman Court waterline replacement project will get underway. It will consist of the installation of a new six-inch water main with new water service lines and meters to the adjacent residences. East Wilman Court will be closed off to all thru traffic and local residents will be notified when access to their properties will be interrupted. The project is expected to last about six to eight weeks, weather permitting.
Separately, officials are reopening the portion of South Ave. immediately east of Carter Street where another project has been ongoing now for a little more than a week. Curb and sidewalk work will still be ongoing and the public should proceed with caution in that area and be aware of construction workers traveling that section of roadway.
