Most KVOE listeners picked up some much-needed rainfall for the second straight day Monday. Unfortunately, many of those residents didn’t get much in the way of rainfall.
Here at the KVOE studios, morning showers provided 0.20 inches of rain. Other area totals included:
*Allen: 0.10 inches
*Americus: 0.50 inches
*Lake Kahola: 0.25 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.09 inches
Generally speaking, the KVOE listening area got anywhere from 0.70 inches to an inch of rain early Sunday. However, Lyon and all surrounding counties remain in drought to some degree, and northwest Lyon, east Morris and southwest Wabaunsee counties are in exceptional drought — the worst on the US Drought Monitor scale. Emporia is near the border of extreme and severe drought.
