Traffic remains congested near Emporia’s water line replacement project along West 12th Avenue, but part of that congestion is now easing.
Underground Utilities supervisor Mike Dvorak says Prairie Street has fully reopened between 12th and 15th. The street had been blocked after a 20-inch line failed July 17, causing major damage to the street surface and subgrade.
Half the intersection reopened to traffic July 27.
Work on 12th has involved replacing a 20-inch line from Prairie to Grand. It may take another month for work to finish and traffic to resume normal flow.
