A loud boom heard across Emporia on Tuesday night was the apparent result of a Tannerite blast.
Lyon County deputies were called to investigate around 8:45 pm. Lyon County Sgt. Doug Stump says the Tannerite boom was traced to the 1800 block of Burlingame Road, just northeast of Emporia.
Tannerite is used mainly for target practice. No injuries have been reported.
Tuesday’s blast occurred in the same general area as a separate Tannerite incident in late April.
