The Emporia High track and field teams has been recognized by the Kansas Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association as one of the top teams in class 5A.
They have been recognized as one of the top 5A combined teams, boys and girls, for track and field performance. The award is based on league, regional and state performances. Emporia High Track and Field Coach Randy Wells says it is a great honor.
At the Centennial league meet The Emporia High girls finished 3rd and boys 6th with 2 champions.
At the Regional meet the Emporia High boys finished in 1st place and girls in 2nd place with 8 individual champions.
At State the Emporia High boys finished in 5th place and the girls 8th place with 14 medals earned.
