While summer is drawing to a close, the heat continues to linger, however, residents will soon have a new way to keep cool.
This is thanks to the addition of the new splash pad to the east playground Peter Pan Park which is nearing completion. The splash pad is a part of the City’s park improvement project, which has already seen new equipment installed in both Las Casitas and Jones Parks.
City Manager Mark McAnarney says all of the improvements have been met with great response from park-goers.
The new splash pad would provide the city with an alterior site for aquatic activities alongside the Jones Aquatic Center. McAnarney says the pad should be ready to go near the time the Aquatic Center will be closing.
Along with the new equipment the city has also replaced older outdated signs in each of the city parks to create a more symmetric feel. The splash pad is expected to open towards the end of August.
