A busy agenda awaits the Emporia City Commission when they meet for a study session Wednesday.
Commissioners are set to have final discussions of the 2019 budget and 5-year plan and receive an update of the downtown sewer relining project. Public Works Director Frank Abart will present some issues they’ve discovered that impact the original scope of the project. Commissioners will also discuss a fiscal sustainability plan for the upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
The agenda also includes an opportunity for Healthier Lyon County to discuss an opportunity to create safe routes to food options in Emporia through a Blue Cross Blue Shield Grant of $100,000. This would include improvements to sidewalks and other infrastructure in Emporia near areas close to grocery stores.
Also to be discussed are the residency requirement for boards and commissions, a city-owned vacant lot proposed program review, as well as the memorandum of understanding related to Haag Enterprises, proposed downtown redevelopment project. Commissioners also plan to review commission goals during the meeting.
Wednesday’s meeting is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room 1AB at White Auditorium.
