Thunderstorm activity led to an injury crash on the Kansas Turnpike at Emporia.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority says a microburst hit the area near the Emporia gate. A northbound semi was using the entrance ramp to the highway but was blown on its side. The driver was taken to Newman Regional Health for care and treatment afterward. The driver’s name has not been released.
The National Weather Service says a downburst hit Emporia on Monday evening as part of isolated strong storm activity.

Traffic on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia was altered after a semi rollover crash Monday evening.
Authorities were alerted to the crash shortly before 8 pm at the northbound entrance ramp. Originally, the crash was reported as an injury accident. Further details are currently pending.
