HARTFORD — Lyon County deputies are asking for help as they try to both identify and find an attempted theft and criminal damage suspect in the Hartford area.
Deputies say an unidentified white male bought a can of soda at the Car Wash just after 3 am Sunday. The man allegedly went back to the vehicle, got a tool and tried unsuccessfully to open the soda machine locks, causing damage to both vending machines on site. The would-be thief then drove north on Kansas Highway 130 in what appeared to be an older model Buick sedan.
Coffey County authorities say they have had a breaking-and-entering suspect trying to get into pop machines in Burlington, Gridley and Lebo. At this time, it’s unclear if the same person is allegedly involved.
