A Tonganoxie man with ties to the KVOE listening area was located safe after going missing Saturday.
According to the Tonganoxie Police Department, 38-year-old Joseph Atchison went missing around 3 p.m. Saturday in Tonganoxie. An announcement went out midday Sunday via social media for an attempt to locate. By around 6:30 p.m. he was located safe in Coffey County, according to Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch.
Tonganoxie Police say Atchison went missing after a family disagreement and was never in any danger. The missing person report was filed for fear of his safety. A family member is said to have located him.
A search of Atchison’s LinkedIn page shows he served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office from 2001 to 2011 and prior to that worked with the Lebo Police Department. More recently he’s been employed as an enforcement agent with the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission. Details surrounding Atchison’s disappearance over the weekend are pending from Tonganoxie Police.
