The Emporia State football team has received votes in the American Football Coaches Association preseason poll. The Hornets received 11 votes and would be ranked 47th. They are 1 of 8 MIAA teams that are ranked or received votes in the poll.
Texas A&M Commerce is ranked number 1 followed by West Florida, Minnesota State, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri are tied for 5th.
Central Missouri is ranked 18th, Pittsburg State, Missouri Western, Central Oklahoma and Washburn also received votes.
Tuesday the Hornets get their first off day during training camp.
Besides the experience at running back and receiver Emporia State has experience at S-Back, the tightend/receiver/running back postition.
Denzel Strong returns for his Junior season.
Jaylen Radel is back for his senior season.
Senior Trenton Ball will also be in the rotation at S-Back.
