Classes are just a few days away at Emporia State University.
Classes begin Monday, and before that the university will hold the traditional General Assembly on Thursday at the Memorial Union Webb Hall. This is where President Allison Garrett will outline upcoming goals and objectives for the university for the fall semester.
Meanwhile, new student move-in begins at 7:30 am Friday at the Towers Complex. And ESU is touting its concurrent classes to help high school students get an early start on their college careers. High school juniors and seniors can obtain credits through online, on-campus or dual-credit instruction. Assistant Provost for Enrollment Management and Academic Success Dr. Shelly Gehrke explained the benefits of the Jump Start program on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Monday.
In addition, ESU is offering another way for senior citizens to be part of the campus experience while learning about new technology. “My iPhone for Seniors” will be offered Sept. 19 and 26 from 2-5 pm at Cremer Hall.
