Blood donations have been pouring in during the annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive this week.
After the first two days out at Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church, American Red Cross organizer Susan Faler tells KVOE News it was another successful day Thursday.
With Thursday total the Red Cross has now collected 226 pints of blood over the first two days. That translates to saving up to 678 lives. This trend continues the ever-growing need to address a Red Cross blood emergency in effect now since Memorial Day.
Those who have come out to donate also have been voting for their favorite first responders, whether that be law enforcement or Emporia Fire/EMS. Faler says the ballot boxes are being stuffed.
The blood drive continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Those who plan to walk in are encouraged to go to redcrossblood.org/rapidpass. You can call 800-RED-CROSS.
