The 2018 SOS Strong campaign is coming to a close with it’s annual award banquet Thursday.
Each year 20 local men from Lyon and surrounding counties are charged with raising $1,000 apiece to support SOS in their mission to help end domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and neglect. This year’s participants have brought in a record-breaking amount of funds.
Lucas Moody with SOS says all of this year’s participants have gone above and beyond with their campaigns.
Moody adds each year the campaign gains more and more notoriety throughout the community and this year was no exception.
The awards banquet will take place Thursday evening at 6 pm and serves as a private time for SOS to thank the 20 local men who have given their time to aid survivors and victims. Moody says the participants appreciate the recognition, however many of them feel it is not necessary as they are simply doing what is right.
The banquet will begin at 6 pm and is not open to the public, KVOE will have award results fundraising totals Friday.
