The Emporia High cross country boys and girls teams both qualified for state last year. The boys return 5 runners who ran at state. The girls return 2 runners who ran at state.
Coach Michael Robinson says qualifying for state has been a big motivator.
Senior Ian Coleman-Hull is the top returning placer for the boys.
Sophomore Taryn West is the top returning placer for the girls.
The Spartans will hold an intrasquad meet Saturday and open the season at Manhattan on September 1st.
