The KVOE listening area got a healthy amount of rain Thursday although some minor flooding has also been noted.
Thursday morning some ponding could be seen on streets in Emporia and surrounding communities. In Americus, where there were reports of two inches or more of rain, water could be seen over County Road 240 west of town. The road is impassable as you can see in the photo below. The Lyon County Highway Department has announced the following roads have been barricaded due to flooding:
*Rd 240 between D and E5
*Rd 150 between J and K-99
*Rd J between Rd 140 & 150
Motorists are advised to never drive into flooded areas, turn off cruise control on wet roads, leave extra room between vehicles and avoid hard braking or turning sharply.

The National Weather Service says storms could potentially redevelop Thursday evening. If that happens there is the potential for stronger to severe storms. Officially, the Storm Prediction Center has most of the KVOE listening area in a slight risk for severe storms. Stay tuned to KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for further weather updates.
