The Emporia State volleyball team is 1-1 after the first day of the West Texas A&M Invitational. The Lady Hornets defeated Eastern New Mexico in 5 sets and lost to Lubbock Christian in 4 sets.
The Lady Hornets won the first two sets 26-24 and 25-20. Eastern New Mexico won sets 3 and 4 by 25-14 margin. Emporia State won the 5th set 15-11.
The Hornets were led by Tatum Graves with 13 kills. Taylor Otting with 10 kills and 13 digs for a double-double. Yuchen Du also recorded a double-double for the Hornets with 22 assists and 10 digs. Allie Maloney led the Hornets with 15 digs.
Emporia State lost to Lubbock Christian 19-25, 15-25, 25-20 and 21-25. Jamie Hauptman led the offense with 14 kills. Tatum Graves added 12 kills. Emma Dixon added 26 assists and Allie Maloney finished with 16 digs.
Emporia State did play without Yuchin Du. The Lady Hornets will play West Texas A&M and Adams State Saturday.
