Participation in this year’s Emporia Walk to Defeat ALS was another success, with close to 250 people descending on Jones Park to honor of loved ones afflicted by the disease.
Fundraising also was solid this year with a preliminary total of $25,687. Longtime organizer of the walk Gary Ace says he’s more than gratified to see the support continue to pour in.
Tracy Griffin joined his family members and friends walking in honor of his father who passed away from the disease 26 years ago.
ALS Association Care Services Specialist Holly Baker says the funds raised go to support a variety of things for patients in the Wichita support area, which includes Emporia.
Ace says Emporia always shows its generosity to those who are suffering from the disease.
