The Flint Hills Community Health Center Board of Directors did some reviewing of auditing, quality improvement awards and announced the hiring of a key position at the health center.
Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Ringgold spoke with KVOE News after the meeting about the announcement.
Among the auditing procedures reviewed was the health center’s 340B program, a U.S. Federal program requiring drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs to eligible health care organizations and covered entities at significantly reduced prices. Those efficiencies came between 92 to 94 percent efficiency from the health center’s three providers. Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Ringgold says they’re on track to meet the health center’s goal.
July’s financial report showed a net loss of nearly $62,000 with revenues at $730,000 and expenses at $792,000. The health center is now also about a year into its 36-month turnaround plan since a September 2017 audit noted $165,000 in losses and is seeing improvement each month.
In addition, Ringgold says the Health Resources and Services Administration has bestowed the health center with some quality improvement awards.
The breakdown for the awards is as follows.
*$35,000 – achieving PCMH recognition
*$23,000 – for clinical quality improvers
*$10,000 – for enhancing access to care
*$5,000 – for electronic health record reporters
*$5,000 – for advancing health information technology.
The health center also announced the hiring of Dr. James Fast who will serve both as staff physician and medical director with the health center beginning in December. Dr. Fast is a family medicine doctor in Wichita and has been in practice for over 20 years. Dr. Dilip Patel currently serves in that role on an interim basis.
