Time is running out for people interested in applying for the open position on the Emporia School Board.
Noon Wednesday is the deadline to return applications to Mary Herbert Education Center, 1700 West Seventh. The application, online at www.usd253.org, includes questions about civic engagement and involvement with school-related associations. It also includes a question asking for perspective on potentially major challenges facing the district the next two years.
Applicant names will be divulged Friday. Public interviews will take place next month. The final selection will fill the unexpired term of Mike Helbert, who resigned earlier this summer after 11 years serving on the board.
