Formal charges have been filed against an Emporia man accused of stabbing another over the weekend.
Prosecutors in Lyon County have charged Hayward Paul McKoy, Jr., age 46, with one count of aggravated battery and two of obstruction. Word on a first court appearance date is pending.
McKoy allegedly stabbed 23-year-old Noah Deere at IHOP on Sunday. Deere declined hospital treatment afterward. Additional case details are pending at this time.
McKoy was convicted last year in Lyon County on a criminal threat charge. He was discharged June 22, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
