Emporia State Junior Parker Bass has been named the MIAA defensive player of the week.
Bass recorded 3.5 sacks and was a half sack away from tying the school single game record of most sacks in a game. He also forced a fumble and recovered a fumble.
Bass leads the nation in sacks and the Hornets are ranked sixth in the nation in rushing defense and seventh in total sacks after the first week of action.
