Decent rainfall totals Wednesday and the threat of more rainfall has prompted the National Weather Service to put Chase and Greenwood counties in a flash flood watch.
Both counties are involved until 10 pm and are part of a relatively large part of central Kansas also under a flash flood watch.
Wednesday rain totals for Chase or Greenwood counties are not immediately available, but much of the KVOE listening area received anywhere from 1-2 inches of rain from Tuesday morning through midday Wednesday. Rain amounts can be found below. The prospect of rain continues into Saturday.
Residents are encouraged not to drive into floodwaters because it only takes a few inches of running water to float a vehicle.

6-11 am Wednesday: Rain continues for Flint Hills
As heavy rain continues for parts of central and northeast Kansas, rain totals here across the Flint Hills have been quite a bit lower.
Here at the KVOE studios, we picked up 0.9 inches since Tuesday, with 0.60 inches of that coming since midnight. Other area totals:
*10th and Weaver: 0.60 inches from Tuesday through 4 am Wednesday
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 1.49 inches from 6 am Tuesday through 10 am Wednesday
*Allen: 0.25 inches from Tuesday through 5 am Wednesday
*Olpe: 0.60 inches from Tuesday through 6 am Wednesday
*5 miles southwest of Olpe: 2 inches from Tuesday through 7 am Wednesday
Some places in north-central Kansas have received as much as 10 inches of rain this week, with another 1-3 inches possible Wednesday. Rain chances continue until Saturday in the latest forecast, and the way it appears now the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon will not be a factor in our weekend weather. Earlier indications had Gordon possibly covering the eastern half of Kansas, but now it appears Gordon’s remnants will cover much of Missouri before pushing to the northeast early next week.
