An Emporia child care facility is one of 16 nonprofits in Kansas announced this week as a recipient of a Community Service Tax Credit.
The Kansas Department of Commerce announced Emporia Community Day Care Center, Inc. of Lyon County will receive a $210,000 credit to help with renovations of the 2nd level of their current building to provide more space for children. Emporia Child Care Director Deb Crowl explains what the future plans entail.
Crowl says learning of their selection as a tax credit recipient was a welcome surprise.
Crowl estimates that renovation of the upstairs space will cost about $1.8 million.
Since 1994, the Department of Commerce tax credit program has helped nonprofit organizations undertake major capital fundraising drives.
Crowl will join KVOE’s 7:15 a.m. Newsmaker Sept. 17 to explain more about the tax credit program.
