Relay for Life of the Flint Hills is about to launch.
The threat of rainfall Saturday morning pushed the event from the Bowyer Community Building to the Fairgrounds Anderson Building, but everything else is on as scheduled. Spokesperson Cherie Crisp is pleased with the community support already shown for the event.
There will be a small opening ceremony at 11, followed by kids games at 11:30 am. Activities will take place every half hour until the survivor-caregiver dinner at 5:30 pm. Then the main opening ceremony starts at 6:30, followed quickly by the survivor lap at 7 and the luminary ceremony shortly after that.
Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society to help pay for lodging, rides to and from appointments, free wigs or turbans and support staff. For more information, call Crisp at 757-8662.
