A preliminary hearing has been set for Eric Hawkins.
The Emporia chiropractor stands accused of rape, sexual battery and battery against three separate individuals since 2015 and was in Lyon County District Court for a first court appearance Thursday. Judge Doug Jones set a preliminary hearing for 2 pm Oct. 24.
Judge Jones also set a motions hearing date for Sept. 20 at 2 pm. Defense attorney Keith Edwards is requesting bond modification to allow Hawkins to travel to Texas and also to have limited contact with an unspecified witness for the purpose of closing his practice. A prosecution motion to seal the affidavits in the case was approved.
