Classical music lovers got a treat Saturday night.
The Spire Chamber Ensemble and Baroque Orchestra was the featured performer at the Emporia State Music Department’s annual Gala Benefit Concert. The group, which frequently sells out the Kauffman Center in Kansas City and is led by ESU alum Ben Spalding, also generated a sellout crowd at Heath Recital Hall on Saturday.
Also Saturday night, Dennis Fisher, an Emporia State graduate and now a professor at the University of North Texas, was inducted into the Beach Hall of Distinction.
The “Vocal Fireworks” concert was a fundraiser for music scholarships. Totals are pending.
