An Emporia man accused of using a machete during a domestic dispute in late July has entered a plea agreement.
Cory Coburn, 35, entered no contest pleas to charges of criminal threat, aggravated domestic battery and possession of methamphetamine. In exchange for his pleas, charges of domestic battery, criminal damage to property, aggravated assault with use of a deadly weapon and an intent to use charge were dropped.
Coburn was arrested at Newman Regional Health July 24 following a domestic incident earlier in the day in the 800 block of Clark Street. The incident prompted the hospital to implement additional security measures after Coburn brought the machete to the hospital’s emergency room.
Sentencing is set for 3:30 p.m. Nov. 7.
