Improvements to Rural Water District #1 was the main topic of discussion during the Lyon County Commission’s action session Thursday morning.
A pay application in the total of $97,190 for Goins Enterprises was presented to Commissioners to help with completion of new water lines currently being installed in Americus. The lines are currently 96% installed with the majority of installation taking place in August. Currently, services are being installed which will be followed by pressure testing and disinfection. The new lines will be made of stronger materials rather than the plastic material of the former lines.
Commission Chairman Rollie Martin says the new materials will hopefully prolong the longevity of the water lines in Americus.
A second application was also taken before commissioners in the total of $64,125 for Phoenix Fabricators who are currently installing a new water tower in the city of Bushong. The tank erection was completed September 12 and painting of the tower is scheduled to run through September into early October.
Martin says the tower will help to address multiple issues.
Both pay applications were unanimously approved by commissioners.
In other business, Commissioner Scott Briggs noted in his report he has organized a meeting with local legislative representatives to update them on local issues. That meeting will take place next Thursday at 9am. Commissioners also approved cancellation of a purchase order from BG consultants and three executive sessions took place.
The Commission’s next scheduled action session is Thursday, September 27 at 8am in the County Courthouse.
