The 2018 Woodfest is taking place this weekend at Camp Wood YMCA.
The annual weekend gathering sponsored by Symphony in the Flint Hills brings local residents together for workshops and activities centered around music and heightening appreciation and knowledge of the Tall Grass Prairie. Symphony Director Christy Davis joined KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Monday morning and shared what those in attendance can expect.
Saturday will culminate with the annual WoodFest Sunset Concert featuring several nationally known musicians. The list of performers includes Grammy-winning cellist and composer Eugene Friesen, Grammy nominated mandolin player Mike Marshall and fiddle player Darol Anger.
During the segment, Davis also discussed the 2019 Symphony in the Flint Hills performance.
When asked if she would be announcing the location of the 2019 concert at WoodFest, she simply responded with “it’s possible.”
WoodFest begins Saturday at 9 and concludes Sunday with the WoodFest Sunrise concert by Eugene Friesen. If you are interested in attending there are several ticket packages available. Packages include

Davis adds along with those packages, they have added a new opportunity for residents to attend as well.
