Flint Hills Community Health Center will be hosting their annual drive-thru flu shot clinic this week.
With the weather beginning to change, flu season is upon us, and the annual clinic offers an extra opportunity to help community members fight potential flu outbreaks. The clinic allows residents to drive up to the center and receive their shots without ever exiting their car.
FHCHC spokesperson Cami McClellan says with flu numbers steadily increasing in recent years, the sooner you can get your shots the better.
Two other clinics are also being put on this year at the Eureka and Madison locations October 5th. The Madison clinic runs from 10 am to 4 pm and the Eureka clinic runs from 9 am to 2 pm.
Friday’s clinic will take place from 7:30 am to 4 pm at the Emporia location at 420 West 15th Ave. Residents are to drive up to the west-side canopy of the health center building to begin the process. The cost is $25. Cash, check, credit card and insurance are all accepted.
For children under the age of nine and adults who cannot make it to the clinic, the health center accepts walk-ins for flu vaccinations 8 am to 5 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 8 am to 7 pm on Wednesdays.
