The Kansas State High School Activities Association has released the school classifications for the 2018-19 school year.
Emporia High remains a 5A school. They have the 4th largest enrollment in 5A. 10 area schools are in 1A: Chase County, Burlingame, Olpe, Lebo, Madison, Hartford, Southern Coffey County, Marais des Cygnes Valley, Waverly and Hamilton.
Northern Heights and Lyndon are in Class 2A.
Osage City, Council Grove and Burlington are in Class 3A.
There are 36 schools in classes 6-5 and 4A. There are 64 schools in the 3 and 2A. There are 117 schools in 1A.
The classifications are good for all sports except football.
