Nobody was hospitalized after a crash south of downtown Emporia Friday morning.
Two vehicles, an SUV and a passenger car collided at the uncontrolled intersection of Merchant and South Copley shortly before 8 am. According to Emporia Police, 33-year-old Angelica Hernandez of Emporia was westbound on Copley Ave. in the SUV while 43-year-old Michelle Heins, also of Emporia was southbound on Merchant Street in the passenger car.
There were three juveniles in the SUV with no apparent injuries and one juvenile passenger in the other car with a bruise, possibly from a seat belt. Heins had lacerations on her face and arm, likely from a broken driver side window. Hernandez complained of pain to the back of her head.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts and no one was transported. Hernandez was cited for failure to yield the right of way and no driver’s license.
