The Emporia Granada Theatre was nearly soldout Friday night as people poured in to see America in concert.
That, of course, is classic “Ventura Highway”, the hit single from America’s second studio album Homecoming.
Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, the two surviving members of the classic group have been touring since 1970 and found themselves greeted by a large crowd in Emporia. The group’s other founding member Dan Peek passed away in 2011. The group is known for its folk-rock hits like “A Horse With No Name” and “I Need You.”
America also dabbled in a few covers Friday night, including one from The Beatles.
America is in the middle of a worldwide tour that takes them to Dodge City this weekend and then to California next week.
