The Howe House and Welsh Farmstead has now been in place for 150 years, and folks from across the area came to both enjoy a day’s worth of activities and note the property’s history Saturday.
Activities included tours, a threshing and baling demonstration, a vintage tractor show, home demonstrations, games and a food court. The Saturday activities followed a formal reception at the Lyon County History Center on Friday. Organizer Dewayne Backhus:
History Center Curator Lisa Soller says the Howe House represents a number of things locally, including the obvious — longevity — but it also represents the American dream, immigration and family.
