Six people, including four students, were hospitalized with minor injuries after a wreck involving a Hamilton School District bus Tuesday morning.
Greenwood County Sheriff Heath Samuels says an 18-passenger bus was westbound on Virgil Road when the crash happened near the intersection of CC Road, about six miles east of Hamilton, just before 7:30 am. A small truck hit the side of the bus, causing it to slide into a ditch and tip over onto the driver’s side.
Besides the students, the drivers of the bus and truck were also taken to Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka for treatment. Samuels says none of the injuries were life-threatening.
Names have not been released.
Deputies are investigating. Fog was occasionally dense across parts of Greenwood County Tuesday morning, but the department has not said whether fog was a contributing factor to the crash. USD 390 Superintendent Greg Markowitz has referred all questions to Greenwood County’s Public Information Office.
