Later this week, two pesky water main leaks in west Emporia should be fixed.
Emporia’s Underground Utilities Department has closed off Prairie between 15th and 18th to fix a leaking water main in the 1600 block of the street. Department supervisor Mike Dvorak says northbound traffic will resume normal flow once the leak is found and crews have finished digging out the site. Once the entire project is done, southbound traffic can resume as normal.
Meanwhile, a private contractor is fixing a water main valve at the intersection of West 12th and Garfield. Westbound traffic is squeezed but can still get past the work site without any issues. Eastbound traffic is being detoured at Grand.
