Chances of rain will not dampen the spirits of Americus residents as they both celebrate and raise funds to support their town.
The Americus Make A Splash Block Party is happening Saturday morning. The day of activities will begin with breakfast at the Methodist Church from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. A donation BBQ will begin at noon with $5 pulled pork meals and hotdogs which will be served until they are gone.
Due to the high chance of rainfall, a few cancellations have been made including the parade, vendors and park activities. Regardless, there will still be plenty going on including patio games at Harry and Lloyds Bar and Grill and live music from Doc Hinck starting at 2:30 and Savannah Chestnut from 7-9 p.m.
Organizers invite residents to bring any side dishes they would like for the meal. There will be several raffles with an assortment of prizes throughout the day including the chance to win tickets to the Chiefs-Broncos game on October 28.
All proceeds will benefit the construction of a new splash pad to replace the former Americus pool.
