Rain or shine, bicyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts will be out enjoying the scenic Flint Hills Nature Trail this weekend.
The second annual Rush the Rails fun ride and competitive relay are taking place Saturday. Organizer Ricci Ziegler says the purpose of the event is to get more people out enjoying the nature trail, with the finish line party going on in Council Grove. This year’s event has 188 riders from five different states.
Ride organizers have implemented an inclement weather plan for Saturday which states that the ride won’t start until conditions are free from lightning or other severe weather for 30 minutes. The ride will go on regardless of rain. Updates will be provided to riders through the Rush the Rails social media pages.
