Showers and thunderstorms are a good bet Friday, and a handful could be strong to severe as they work across the KVOE listening area.
TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says there is a chance for stronger activity Friday evening, but the better chance of storms would be after midnight.
Currently, the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk of severe weather along and north of the Kansas Turnpike, with a marginal risk south of the highway. Isolated hail and high wind are the main risks.
Even with hail and high wind as possibilities, the main concern may well be widespread heavy rain. Residents across the area picked up anywhere from 0.80 inches to 2 inches Wednesday night and Thursday morning, and with that recent rainfall, heavy rain could lead to some flooding into Saturday. Meyers anticipates a total of 3-6 inches of rain areawide by the time our active weather pattern settles down Tuesday or Wednesday.
