An investigation continues into why cement began falling from the State Street underpass recently.
The underpass, which takes traffic under the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks, has been closed since Monday when problems were first noticed. Emporia Police have notified BNSF but the railroad has not alerted local officials or local media about its findings or when the bridge will reopen.
Currently, traffic is blocked at Second and at Fourth. No other underpasses have had issues with falling cement reported to local officials.
