You would think that 10-16 inches of rainfall over a week’s time would be enough to clear drought from the KVOE listening area. And you would be wrong.
The US Drought Monitor still has most of the listening area, essentially north of a line from Strong City to Emporia to BETO Junction, in abnormally dry conditions to moderate drought — which is an improvement from the severe to extreme drought that has covered most of that territory for weeks.
Extreme drought is over, although there is a pocket of severe drought in western Wabaunsee County.
