A Lyon County Jail inmate has pleaded no contest to a count of conspiring to bring contraband into the jail.
Angela Peres pleaded this week to a formal charge of conspiracy to traffic contraband after allegedly bringing a small amount of methamphetamine into the jail and then distributing that to fellow inmates in February.
Sentencing will be Nov. 28.
Earlier this fall, Peres’ cellmate, Patty Rangel, pleaded no contest to a conspiracy charge and was sentenced to probation with an underlying 14-month prison term, meaning probation violations send her to prison. Co-defendant Rebecca Berkenmeier pleaded no contest to attempted trafficking in a correctional facility and was sentenced to probation with an underlying 12-month prison term. Another co-defendant, Valerie Carrion, pleaded no contest to attempted trafficking and will be sentenced Nov. 1.
Peres had pleaded no contest to a charge of drug possession last year after a case that developed in 2016.
