One of several defendants in a kidnapping and battery case dating back to last fall has been sentenced in the case.
Armando Nunez recently pleaded no contest to aggravated battery and attempted aggravated robbery. This week, Nunez was sentenced to 36 months probation with an underlying prison term of 44 months, meaning any probation violations will send Nunez to the state penitentiary.
Nunez was among six defendants, all between 15-18 years old, that were charged with being part of an incident where a then-16-year-old was beaten multiple times south of Emporia in November 2017. Selena Hernandez and Jonathon Manzano received probation in their cases, while Samuel Garcia was sentenced to seven years in prison. Alexander Couch, the last remaining defendant to be sentenced, will be in court for that purpose next month. Charges were dropped against Andrew Granado.
