The son of Wabaunsee County Sheriff Rob Hoskins has been killed in an apparent wrong-way car crash.
Luke Hoskins, 24, was on Interstate 135 near Hydraulic in southern Wichita when his car hit a semi head-on Wednesday night. As a result of the crash, Hoskins’ car left the highway, went into the center median and rolled.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says Hoskins was southbound in the northbound lanes when the wreck happened around 8 pm.
The Wichita Eagle says Hoskins was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver, 45-year-old Casey Welch of Toledo, Ohio, was not hurt.
The younger Hoskins’ death came hours after Wabaunsee County law enforcement, including Sheriff Hoskins, attended a graveside service for longtime Alma city marshal Mark Falk, who died Oct. 1. Falk had served as Alma’s law enforcement leader for 36 years before his death.
