The search continues for a suspect who allegedly stole two vehicles Friday morning and led authorities on a multi-county pursuit through eastern Kansas.
Lyon County deputies say the driver who stole a Jeep out of Butler County also allegedly stole a car from an unlisted location in Western Osage County. That vehicle was later located abandoned in Douglas County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol the suspect fled from there and as of late Friday afternoon was still at large.
The suspect is described as a white male about 5 foot 10 inches tall, bald with a goatee or beard wearing a gray shirt or sweatshirt.
The chase originally began about five miles south of Emporia before 9 a.m. on the Kansas Turnpike. Troopers halted the chase as it continued onto Interstate 35 north of Emporia due to rain and poor driving conditions.
Anyone who has information about either vehicle thefts or the suspect in this case, call 911.

8:45 am Friday: Authorities seeking stolen Jeep, suspect after chase near Emporia
Several law enforcement agencies are looking for a vehicle involved in a pursuit around Emporia on Friday morning as well as the driver.
Both the Kansas Turnpike Authority and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office say the chase developed on the Turnpike south of Emporia and then moved to Interstate 35 northbound around town. Turnpike Authority law enforcement “disengaged” from the chase due to rain and poor driving conditions, so the vehicle and driver are now at large.
The vehicle in question is described as a silver Jeep Cherokee with black tinted windows. The Jeep has the Kansas tag 836 LLD and was last seen near Kansas Highway 170 in eastern Lyon County. A suspect description is pending.
Authorities say the Jeep was stolen out of Butler County, and they are concerned the driver may steal another vehicle to stay away from law enforcement. If you have information, call 911.
