A fieldgoal as time expired lifted Topeka High to a 27-26 win over the Emporia High football team Friday night.
Emporia High scored first in the game on Gabe Galindo 5 yard run. Charles Snyder caught a 15 yard pass to give the Spartans a 14-7 lead. Topeka High tied the game before halftime.
In the 4th quarter Jace Stewart scored on a 3 yard run to give Emporia High a 20-17 lead after a blocked extra point. Topeka High retook the lead on a 80 yard touchdown pass.
The Spartans retook the lead with 2:20 to play on a Beau Baumgardner 3 yard run on 4th down. Topeka High would win the game on a 39 yard fieldgoal as time expired.
Emporia High Coach Corby Milleson called it a great effort.
The Spartans fall to 3-4 for the season. They go to Junction City next Friday.
