Saturday was reserved, in part, for Emporia’s first-ever Octoberfest celebration. And organizer Rick Becker was impressed with how things went.
The event was organized by the Downtown Emporia Bar Association, including Mulready’s Pub, Radius Brewing, Town Ryal and Charlie’s Place. Activities featured music, family activities, a cornhole tournament, food trucks and — yes — several kinds of beer.
Main Street Director Casey Woods says street festivals like Octoberfest help to keep downtown Emporia vibrant.
Becker says plans are already germinating for next year’s Octoberfest. Organizers will meet Wednesday to begin the planning for next year’s event.
