The Friends of the Emporia Animal Shelter were helping keep residents close to their furry friends with a special event this weekend.
Sunday afternoon L&L Pets was full of pet owners and their four-legged friends who received microchip injections. The microchips have the pet’s personal information contained within them and are able to be universally scanned at animal shelters and veterinary clinics helping reunite pets with their owners quicker and easier.
FEAS Treasurer Deb Ghere explains not only do the chips help reunite residents with their furry loved ones, but it also helps reduce the population of kennels and animal shelters.
Pet owner Arijanna (Ar-Reh-Jawn-Uh) Cook along with her boyfriend Jacob, brought in their dog Roscoe and says the chip gives her peace of mind.
According to Ghere, within the first 30 minutes of the event, they had already installed 25 different microchips. For more information on FEAS visit their page on Facebook.
